What Noova will never build

We think most productivity apps make ADHD brains worse. Here is what we refuse to do.

  • 🏆 No badges or points
Gamification works for neurotypical brains. For ADHD brains, it creates a second job: maintaining the gamification. When the novelty fades — in about 2 weeks for ADHD — missing a badge triggers shame. We refused to build the shame machine.
  • 🔥 No guilt streaks
We have a streak counter. We also have a streak repair. But we will never send a push notification that tells you your streak is broken. You already know. You do not need us to remind you to feel bad.
  • 👥 No social feed or comparison
ADHD brains already spend enough time comparing themselves to others. We will not build a leaderboard that makes you feel worse about your brain.
  • 📋 No habit tracker
Habits require consistency over weeks. ADHD brains are variability machines. Building habits for ADHD is often the wrong goal — building systems that accommodate variability is the right one. We will not pretend otherwise.
  • 🔔 No more than 2 notifications per day
Notifications from productivity apps become background noise in 10 days for ADHD brains. We send a morning check-in and an evening close. That is the maximum we will ever send.
  • 🧩 No integrations that read your data without consent
We will never connect to third-party services that analyze your behavior for advertising or scoring purposes. Integrations are always your choice and always reversible.
  • ⚙️ No settings walls
Every setting we add is a decision ADHD users have to make. We commit to never having more than 12 user-configurable settings in the entire app. If we cannot make a good default decision for most users, we should not add the feature.
These are not temporary decisions. They are structural. If we change them, we will announce it publicly on this page and explain why.
